Here is another information conncected with Lalitha Sahasranamam. The temple of Meghanadha Swamy/Lalithambigai is at Thirumeeyachur near Peralam on the road from Mayiladuthurai to Thiruvarur. It is said Surya was cursed and was doing penance here to get rid of it. He started screaming too much which disturbed the goddess. She got angry and was about to curse him. Sensing trouble Siva blessed her to he a Shantha nayagi upon which ‘vasinis’appeared from Lalithambigai’s tongue and sung the 1,000 names praising the godess and thus Lalitha Sahasranamam was born. It is in this temple, this was sung for the first time. Hence, reading LS in this temple is very auspicious.
